The next day, while at school, Gloria and Samanthia met for lunch. Gloria was in tears. “What happened?”, Samanthia asked his younger sister. “It’s father. Why does he have to be this way? Why can’t he accept mama’s departure? Last night, I actually saw and felt Mama in a dream. She told me that she is still alive, looking after us, and how sad she is to see father acting the way he is. I can’t tell you the rest. It was so great and makes me not want to play father’s games anymore.”

Happy to know his mother is still alive, Samanthia was saddened to see Gloria resolved at not wanting to play their little fun game with their father. “Look, Gloria. It was nice that you had a meeting with mama. But, father is still alive. We’ve got to make him feel comfortable with himself. We have to accept that this is his way of handling the grief of losing mama. He loved her as much as we did, if not more. He is a simple man. I believe he can change so long as we don’t expect him to change in the way we want him to.” Samanthia knew that even in the afterlife, his mother was trying to force his father to change.
